See this excellent band @ Street and The Shakespeare on Sunday 16th April.

A close-harmony, eclectic, semi-acoustic piano-led wonder, Mumbo-Jumbo brings together three top Midlands singer/songwriters to produce an ‘Eclectic Acoustic’ sound that is all their own at festivals, theatres and blues, folk and acoustic clubs across the country.  The band’s new CD ‘Sonic Gumbo’ launched in March 2016 is getting lots of airplay and reviews, and the band are double nominees (2016 & 2012) in the British Blues Awards for both Songwriting and Performance.

The trio, Oliver Carpenter, Chris Lomas and Phil Bond, all established lead vocalists combine to also produce strong complex tight harmonies. Add to this the nine instruments they play between them and you have an evening of wide ranging musical textures, sounds and flavours, excellent musicianship and strong songwriting.

Mumbo-Jumbo’s recent schedule included blues, folk and jazz festivals showing the bands range and eclectic appeal. It included the Great British R&B Festival, Birmingham Jazz, Upton Blues, Bromsgrove Folk, Ealing Blues, Monmouth Music, Blues at The Fold, Nantwich Jazz, Blues & Music and Hay Philosophy Festival.

Described as;

“The musicianship is unsurpassable, and the songwriting is excellent.”

“The hugely entertaining Mumbo-Jumbo have that rare knack of making you their best friend as soon as they hit a note. We got uke, accordion, trumpet, kazoo and beatbox alongside some terrific guitar, piano and smart vocal harmonies. These guys do everything from boogie to mad singalong via tex-mex and Tom Waits. Everyone fell in love with them!”

Jade Tremarco to Support Connie Lush

We are proud to welcome vocalist, composer &  musician Jade Tremarco to the festival when she plays support for Connie Lush on Friday 14th April in The Crown Hotel Ballroom.

The best art imitates life. Jade’s music has always been focused on writing songs based on personal experience; referencing highs and lows of her life, relationships with friends and family, illnesses and above all else, acceptance.

Influences of rock, pop, country, jazz, funk, soul and blues all come together to give Jade the tools she needs to write music that reflects on the past, shares lessons learnt and grows with her as she evolves in both her personal and creative selves.

From the age of 11, Jade began to sing songs imitating those of her idols including Eva Cassidy, Alanis Morrisette, Stevie Nicks, Aretha Franklin, Axl Rose, Elton John, Seal and other legendary vocalists.

Jade’s music is elegant, simple and clean which has only been accentuated by the local legendary musicians she has worked with including Brian “Saxophone” Jones from The Undertakers, The Christians, The Swinging Blue Jeans and The Gary Murphy Band. Jade is not only a solo vocalist and guitarist, but is one half of the duo ‘Glade’ in which she is joined by the fabulously talented Glyn Williams from China Crisis. This lively and upbeat collaboration is an exciting and refreshing combination, showcasing both Glyn and Jade’s talents to the max.
